Who we are
Lamatelier is a Belgian textile studio founded by interior architect and textile designer Céline Lambrechts. The studio specialises in the design and creation of handwoven interior textiles made from Belgian wool.
Lamatelier works exclusively with Belgian wool — a material that is today often regarded as a waste stream or by-product. By choosing this fibre, Céline consciously returns to a local and traditional material heritage, in contrast to imported or synthetic fibers. Color is developed through plant-based and natural dye processes only. From raw fibre to finished textile, the pieces remain 100% natural and fully biodegradable, allowing them to return to the soil without leaving a trace.
Lamatelier’s work follows a from farm to fabric philosophy, where every textile carries a clear connection to its origin. Céline engages in artisanal practices as old as humanity itself, not out of romanticization, but from a need to respond to the challenges of the polluting textile industry. Through handwork and traditional techniques, she transforms raw wool into textiles that celebrate their inherent simplicity, imperfections, and pure beauty.
This approach allows time to be reintroduced into the making process, creating pieces that are timeless, meaningful, and sustainable. Lamatelier’s projects bring together tradition, environment, production, people, and animals in a harmonious and responsible way.
