Ladakhi Mountains

This piece is a reflection of the Ladakhi mountain landscape – a place where I spent a wonderful and inspiring time that left a deep mark on me. It’s woven with the softest wool from sheep living and grazing in this incredible region, hand-washed and -spun by We Are Kal. Belgian sheep wool forms the warp. The natural dyes – from left to right – are made from black tea, rooibos tea and birch leaves. Each panel was afterwards dip-dyed in a dye made from madder root, giving this bright, deep orange-red color.
